Kurdish Women have struggled greatly to achieve basic human rights: the right to life, liberty and justice. Although we are far behind the modern world when it comes to these rights, we continue to make progress. Kurdish women are taking charge of their lives and work hard to change the instituitions and the society they live in. Changing the structure of Kurdish society to better accomodate women is certianly no easy task, one must work hard against a deeply rooted patriachal society where the main role of women is homemaker , wife and mother. Although Kurdish women take great pride in their roles as mother and wife, sister, daughter, whatever it maybe, the time has come (if not overdue) for women to have a more central role in society and government.
